BN still has comfortable majority in Johor – Khaled
(Malaysia Outlook) – The Johor Barisan Nasional (BN) still has comfortable majority and it will not be affected, let alone weakened, by the defection of Jorak assemblyman Dr Shahruddin Md Salleh to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).
Shahruddin has been appointed as Pribumi secretary-general.
Menteri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin, who is also Johor BN chairman, said it would only motivate BN to work harder to retain power and win back seats currently held by the state opposition, in the next general election (GE14).
“The state government views this as a political reality, based on the current circumstances.
“However, it does not mean that we, as the ruling government, are weak. I have repeatedly said that we still have a comfortable majority. What’s important now is to serve the people well, not just looking at numbers,” he said after presenting Deepavali contributions to 200 recipients in Pasir Gudang today.
Mohamed Khaled said this in response to the appointment of Shahruddin, as announced as PPBM president Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday.
