Mahathir Is Azmin’s ‘Godfather’, Not Anwar
(The Malaysian Digest) – Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali has been working closely and receiving advice from former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on matters concerning the state administration, said Selangor Umno Liaison Committee chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar today.
Tan Sri Noh said it is absurd for Azmin to admit that it is Mahathir, not jailed former Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as his ‘Godfather’.
“It’s really funny and I can’t help being amused by it. After he was sworn in as Selangor Mentri Besar (MB), he actually consulted with Mahathir. He admitted that in his speech. He met him to discuss matters concerning state governance,” he revealed the obvious contradiction that existed even at the beginning of Azmin’s elected tenure.
Responding to Azmin’s recent statement regarding Selangor’s budget surplus, he remarked: “The relationship between Tun M and Azmin clearly implies that both of them have been working together for quite some time.
“He did not consult Anwar but Tun M, and it is thus apparent that the latter is his Godfather,” Noh was quoted by the Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Club (BNBBC), bnbbc.my reports.
“It is ridiculous that he did that. Since becoming MB, he has been boasting around and claiming that the state government has managed to collect RM4 billion.
“Azmin should instead go down to the ground. He must look into matters concerning the people such as the urgent issue of low cost housing. He should understand the plight of lower income Selangor residents. Don’t get caught up campaigning outside the state to show how great he is.
“If he doesn’t know how to spend wisely then he must be good in ‘collecting’ money,” said the Minister of Housing and Local Government.
“We don’t need a government which shows no commitment and is good at pointing out others’ weaknesses only,” he observed.
“He said water is free for all. However, come to think of it, what’s the point if we turn on the water taps but there is no water coming out?
“He must stop to give excuses. Many electoral pledges were made but he has yet to make good on those promises,” he reiterated.
