Mokhzani quits as SIC chairman after 13 years
(NST) – Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir has resigned from his post as Sepang International Circuit (SIC) chairman. Mokhzani, 53, confirmed when contacted that he had been asked to vacate the post which he had held since 2003.
Sources informed the New Straits Times that Mokhzani’s resignation took effect on Oct 10.
Mokhzani’s 13-year tenure at the helm of the circuit saw it reach its most successful phase since its inception in 1998.
Besides twice being named the best organised race in Formula One, Mokhzani also proved a winner on the race track, being part of the winning trio in the Merdeka Millenium Endurance (MME) race in 2007.
His replacement has yet to be officially named.
