Kit Siang tells PAS’ Hashim: Stop telling tall tales

DAP veteran advises new PAS Mursyidul Am Hashim Jasin against allowing others to ‘put words in his mouth’ and to find out the truth about why Pakatan Rakyat broke up.

(FMT) – Former Perlis PAS Commissioner Hashim Jasin is entitled to his political views but he’s not entitled to speak on matters on which he has no personal knowledge, cautioned DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang.

“He cannot pass off untruths as truths,” Lim said in a statement.

Lim, who is also DAP parliamentary leader and Gelang Patah MP, said he did not “know what Hashim was talking about”.

He noted that Hashim claimed that DAP had “reneged” on its agreement to co-operate with PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang. “It was clear that Hashim did not know what he was saying,” said Lim.

It was Hadi who had reneged on the Common Policy Framework (CPF) agreed by PAS when forming Pakatan Rakyat (PR), charged Lim.

The DAP veteran was taking issue with Hashim while congratulating him on his appointment as the new Mursyidul Am PAS. “He should not allow others to put words into his mouth,” advised Lim.

He referred to a Bernama report on Thursday quoting Hashim as saying that PAS would never co-operate with DAP again. “Hashim said that PAS was willing to face three-cornered fights in the coming general election,” lamented Lim.

“He regarded PAS-DAP ties as beyond reconciliation. He alleged that DAP had ‘reneged’ on its agreement to cooperate with Hadi.”

DAP had never broken its commitments, reiterated Lim. “PR broke up not because DAP had defaulted on any solemn agreement it had undertaken.”
