Opposition MP admits BR1M a successful in helping the needy
(Bernama) – Pakatan Harapan’s Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen has admitted that the 1 Malaysia People’s aid (BR1M) implemented by Barisan Nasional (BN) is a successful incentive scheme in helping the needy.
Speaking to reporters after the launch of the Opposition’s 2017 Alternative Budget, Wong said BR1M was paid out directly to the target groups.
“I think BR1M is quite a successful programme… with the handouts, the poor are ensured of some form of aid,” he said at Parliament lobby today.
He made the comment when asked if Pakatan Harapan would continue with BR1M payouts if given the mandate to rule the country.
Earlier, PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had unveiled the budget themed ‘Defining the Future’.
Also present were Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu and DAP national publicity secretary Tony Pua Kiam Wee.
