Pribumi can’t lead like Umno – Annuar Musa
Annuar Musa said Pribumi, headed Muhyiddin Yassin, would not have the majority parliamentary seats in GE14 to form the next federal government.
(Malaysia Outlook) – Pribumi would not be able to lead the federal government, especially in implementing initiatives championing the plight of Malays and the society in general as how had been done by Umno, if the opposition bloc were to win the 14th General Election (GE14) and takes over Putrajaya.
Umno information chief Annuar Musa said this was because Pribumi, headed by Muhyiddin Yassin, could not have the majority parliamentary seats in the federal government to form its administration.
In fact, he said it seemed quite difficult for Pribumi to even be allowed by other opposition parties to contest in their seats in GE14, Bernama reported him as he saying in Malacca on Sunday.
Referring to Muhyiddin’s statement that Pribumi would replace Umno, Annuar said: “If Pibumi wants to replace Umno, how many seats would it be contesting in the next GE and will DAP, Amanah, PKR and PAS give way to them? Of course not.
“Even if Pribumi wins at most 50 Parliament seats, would the party be able to determine the country’s administration. If not Pribumi can just be an insignificant party,” he said.
He was speaking at an event attended by Umno grassroots in Ayer Keroh.
Also present was Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron, who is also the Malacca Umno chairman.
Given Umno was established on the basis of the struggle to defend the Malays and the country as a whole, Annuar asked on how could a party like Pribumi, built on discontentment of certain individuals, replace Umno.
“Umno will not be threatened by the existence of Pribumi. With only 30 applications to join the party, Pribumi thinks we are threatened. We have millions of members, why should we panic?” exclaimed Annuar.
