My struggle differs from yours, Najib tells Mahathir
The prime minister says he is focused on developing the nation while Mahathir fought for independence
(FMT) – Prime Minister Najib Razak while insisting that he has not deviated from his struggle, which is developing the nation, took a swipe at a “91-year-old leader” who has accused him of not fulfilling his responsibilities.
Najib said in a blog post today that in his 40-years serving the people, he strove to improve the nation through various initiatives including setting up the Urban Transformation Centre and developing public transport infrastructure such as the MRT, LRT and BRT.
The “91-year old leader”, meanwhile, he noted, fought for independence.
While Najib did not name the leader, it was clear he was alluding to Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who he added, in recent times has been instigating the public to go against him (Najib).
“Yes it’s true, the struggles then differ from the ones now,” Najib wrote.
The prime minister said Mahathir was making these accusations as he wanted to attract more people to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.
The Umno president also pointed out it was Mahathir who had deviated from his struggles by teaming up with a “chauvinist party whose leader was charged for corrupt practices”, in a veiled attack aimed at DAP and Lim Guan Eng.
