Muhyiddin says summoned by cops for OSA investigation

(MMO) – Former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be questioned by police for allegedly breaching the Official Secrets Act 1972 by revealing Cabinet meeting details in Parliament.

The president of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) said he has been contacted by investigators to have his statement taken.

“They (police) have called but the schedule has not been fixed. They gave a date but after some discussions, they said next week. They asked me to come to Bukit Aman,” Muhyiddin told reporters when met outside Parliament today.

The Pagoh MP declined to say, however, if he felt his remarks when debating Budget 2017 were in violation of secrecy laws.

“I will explain when I am called up. Not in Parliament,” Muhyiddin said briefly.

Aside from Muhyiddin, former second finance minister Datuk Seri Husni Hanadzlah was also accused of breaching the OSA by divulging information from Cabinet meetings, also during debate on the federal budget.

Husni had been called to Bukit Aman yesterday to have his statement recorded, but the police interview was postponed.
