Shafie keen to work with opposition parties interested in toppling the government
(The Star) – Parti Warisan Sabah has expressed interest in working with opposition parties that are focused on toppling the government.
Party president Datuk Mohd Shafie Apdal (pic) said his party was open to working with anyone who shares the same goal as them.
He was responding to questions on whether his party would join the opposition now that PAS has “opened its doors” for a reunion.
“That’s good news, we are very open so long as their interest is to topple the government, we will work with them.
“But we have to look into details. It’s not as easy and we have to look into which particular area we can work with.
“If they are friendly to Barisan then it’s very tough for us to work with them, but if they are serious about it and if they really want to topple the government then why not?,” he said.
The Semporna MP said although his focus was on Sabah-based parties, he still needed to evaluate their political inclinations.
“The question of seriousness and commitment. Whether they really want to work with Barisan or they want to work with us as an opposition to topple the government,” he said.
He however added that he would wait for DAP, PKR and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) to decide on working with PAS first.
Earlier, Abdul Hadi had said he was willing to work with all Pakatan Harapan parties, as long as there was no external interference in internal party matters.
