Nik Abduh: PAS will not negotiate with DAP
The Youth chief also claims the PAS president’s statement that the party was open to joining other parties to topple BN was exaggerated in the media.
(Bernama) – PAS will not negotiate with DAP in the bid to create one-to-one contests against BN in the 14th General Election, said its Youth chief, Nik Muhammad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.
“We have answered this question before. There will be no negotiations with DAP,” he told reporters when met at the Parliament lobby here today.
He also claimed that PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang’s statement that the party was open to joining Opposition parties to topple BN had been exaggerated.
Yesterday, Hadi was reported as saying that PAS had no problem cooperating with any parties in the Opposition bloc, including DAP, to ensure straight fights against BN in the next general election but DAP should keep its nose out of PAS’ internal affairs.
Prior to this, the party’s spiritual leader, Hashim Jasin, was reported as saying that the party had agreed to the concept of a one-to-one contest against BN.
At a separate press conference earlier, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang questioned PAS’ intentions in wanting to mend fences with the Opposition for seat negotiations.
Lim said the party had always kept its doors open to work together with all parties to ensure straight fights in the upcoming general election.
