No PAS tie-up with Pakatan in next GE

(The Star) – Nik Abduh said PAS only welcomed negotiations on seat distribution with “any party that has not disturbed” its internal affairs.

PAS Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz (pic) denies the party will cooperate with Pakatan Harapan in the next general election.

He was referring to PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang who said that the Islamist party was open to cooperating with other Opposition parties, including DAP, as long as they keep their noses out of the internal affairs of PAS.

Nik Abduh, who is Pasir Mas MP, stressed that Abdul Hadi was just making a general statement without referring to any Opposition party.

“PAS only agrees to ensure straight fights in the elections.

“But it is clear that we will not cooperate with the DAP.

“We have no negotiations with DAP at all,” he said at the Parliament lobby.

He said Abdul Hadi had never said there would be a cooperation with DAP, adding that his statement was made into a “media spin”.

Nik Abduh said PAS only welcomed negotiations on seat distribution with “any party that has not disturbed” its internal affairs.

At a separate press conference, DAP national adviser Lim Kit Siang asked whether Abdul Hadi’s statement was a genuine reconciliation to allow seat negotiations to proceed smoothly, or whether PAS was trying to lobby support to see that its Private Member’s Bill goes ahead smoothly.

“We have to study Abdul Hadi’s statement. We hope nobody is playing games,” he said.

Lim said DAP had always been open to working with all parties to ensure one-to-one fight in the general election.

But he criticised PAS for labelling the DAP as the “Satan and the devil”.
