Jamal to ‘repay in blood’ for bloody nose
Bersih’s Maria Chin Abdullah says the Red Shirt leader is inhuman, after a day of scuffles
(FMT) – Red Shirts leader Jamal Md Yunos has promised to repay in blood every drop of his blood spilled today when he received a bloody nose in a scuffle at a Bersih gathering in Ampang.
Speaking to FMT, Jamal claimed that he was punched in the face while leading Red Shirt supporters in pursuit of Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin at the Ampang Point shopping centre.
Zuraida and a group of other PKR members had been publicising the Bersih 5 street demonstration planned for Nov 19.
“Out of nowhere a man in a yellow t-shirt punched me. I got a bloody nose because of that,” Jamal told FMT.
“And when I went to a clinic in Ampang later, the doctor told me I have to go to a hospital for further check up, including x-ray.
“I am okay for now, but I promise that every drop of blood I spilled today, will be repaid in blood.”

However, Malaysiakini reported that Jamal had been heard shouting that police had punched him, and quoted an Ampang PKR member as saying that Jamal had been in a melee with plainclothes policemen guarding an exit at the shopping centre.
Jamal who is head of Sungai Besar Umno, said he had lodged a police report and would leave it to the police to act appropriately.
The police report, sighted by FMT, was lodged at Ampang police station at about 5pm. Jamal stated that there was a clash between 150 of his men, and a group in Bersih t-shirts. He claimed that those in yellow were being violent and had disturbed public peace.
Bersih 2.0 chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah when contacted, expressed shock over the latest incidents today when an unruly group of Red Shirts had hijacked the convoy in Bangi and Hulu Selangor.
Maria said a group of Red Shirts kicked and punched a Bersih volunteer security personnel and tried to threaten other yellow shirt-wearing drivers in the convoy.
“They harassed the convoy like some vicious hooligans. It is shocking they could stoop to this level. What is the IGP, the Prime Minister and other Federal Ministers like Khairy Jamaluddin doing? Why aren’t the authorities doing anything?” she told FMT.
She related another incident involving Jamal, saying “he (Jamal) is inhuman” for allegedly having dragged a Bersih supporter out of his car in front of the man’s children.
“How can a person behave like that in front of children,” she said.
Bersih, an election reform group, plans to hold a street demonstration on Nov 19 to demand political reforms and the resignation of prime minister Najib Razak. Jamal has promised to hold a counter-rally the same day.
