Issues raised by Dr M should’ve been addressed when he was in power, says Nik Abduh
(Bernama) – The current political gestures of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is only empty gimmicks that will only bring confusion to national politics, according to PAS Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.
He said this was because the 91-year-old statesman was now active in raising issues, such as oil royalty and the release of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, which should have been addressed and resolved when he was at the helm of the government.
“He was the one who denied payments of oil royalty to Kelantan, and now he wants the royalty to be paid. He was the one who put Anwar in jail, now he wants Anwar to be freed.
“When he was in power, he did not bother to do so, now that he has no power, he began raising all the issues. I think it’s better for him to spend his time worshipping Allah, going to Makkah and learning more about Islam. It’ll be good for him,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
He said this in response to the former prime minister’s attacks on PAS for allowing themselves to be obligated to certain quarters to go against the opposition coalition.
On Saturday, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak also rapped Dr Mahathir for forgetting the fact that PAS was marginalised by the opposition coalition after a fallout with DAP and not over some obligations.
In this regard, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang denied his party was in cahoots with Umno and Barisan Nasional when it did not want to cooperate with Pakatan Harapan.
“Its not true… not true. PAS is not supporting any party,” he said.
