Bersih 5: Police detain DAP’s Ronnie Liu
(The Star) – DAP leader Ronnie Liu is the latest person to be hauled up by police a day before Saturday’s Bersih 5 rally.
At 6.11pm on Friday, DAP Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng tweeted that the former Pandamaran assemblyman had been arrested at Kuala Lumpur police headquarters (IPK Kuala Lumpur).
“Ronnie is arrested in front of Bukit Aman by IPK KL for attempting to riot tomorrow. I was with him moments ago,” said Lim in his tweet.
Just an hour before, Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah and its secretariat officer Mandeep Singh were picked up by the police from the Bersih office and taken to the Petaling Jaya police district headquarters.
Earlier the same day, DAP’s Seremban MP Anthony Loke was arrested by officers from Bukit Aman to be questioned over a speech he made during Pakatan Harapan’s convention last Saturday.
Police have also questioned Klang MP Charles Santiago of DAP over his participation in two Bersih 5-related functions in Klang.
