Maria Chin–CIA link
(Malaysia Outlook) – Bersih committee chairman Maria Chin Abdullah Maria and her late husband Yunus Lebai Ali, are claimed to be linked to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) through her work in several NGOs back in the 1980s, such as National Institute for Electoral Integrity (NIEI).
Yunus and Hishamuddin Rais were social activist from University of Malaya in the 1970s together left the country in fear of police arrest, according to a posting by blogger Rocky Bru.
Maria and Yunus got married in London in the year 1979.
NIEI was sponsored by the Asia Foundation, under The National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel) and Asian Network for Free and Fair Elections (Anfrel).
Maria is not an ordinary person, but someone whose background should be further examined, suggested Rocky Bru.
Rocky Bru also claimed that the CIA’s modus operandi had been taken over by a new agency named National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
According to their websites, Namfrel, which is based in the Philippines, is a pioneer in election monitoring while Anfrel works on election observation, capacity building and campaign and advocacy to promote democratic institutions.
Rocky Bru also pointed out that Maria was involved in human rights and feminist NGOs which are pro-LGBT, such as the Women Development Collective (WDC), Empower and Sisters in Islam (SIS).
Former CIA agent Philip Agee had previously revealed that Namfrel and Anfrel were CIA tools.
Philip had at one time revealed the CIA’s modus operandi in its efforts to ‘control’ a nation on the pretext of invoking democracy and using its populist power to the maximum, especially during the country’s general election.
