Pakatan Harapan to decide on Pribumi’s membership next week

(Bernama) – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (Pribumi) entry into the Pakatan Harapan will be decided at a meeting to be held next week, said Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) deputy president, Salahuddin Ayub.

Salahuddin said that Pribumi’s entry into the coalition would strengthen Pakatan Harapan, which is made up of DAP, PKR and Amanah.

“I hope Pakatan Harapan can hold the meeting as soon as possible,” he said when speaking to reporters after opening Amanah’s first Annual Convention on Sunday.

Salahuddin was commenting on a statement by Pribumi chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on the party’s wish to join Pakatan Harapan.

He added that Pakatan Harapan would then register a symbol with the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to be used by Opposition candidates contesting in the next general elections.

“I hope the RoS will not dilly-dally (on the registration) as Pakatan Rakyat had experienced before,” he said.
