Amanah pledges to protect DAP against Umno

Selangor Amanah delegate tells convention it is time to put an end to racial hatred and politics.

(FMT) – A Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) member from Selangor warned that Umno will continue to use DAP as a scapegoat to win over the Malays in the coming general election (GE).

Against this political backdrop, Amanah had a responsibility to put an end to racial politics, Jamzuri Ardani said, because Umno regarded DAP as a soft target and would continue to bash the Chinese-based party to achieve its own political aims.

“It is one way for them to win the GE. We have to spread the word that DAP is not the enemy,” he said during the party’s National Convention 2016, here, today.

He said Amanah would deal with the issue head on and protect DAP from any racial attacks by Umno, who was bent on using the race card to kill off Pakatan Harapan.

“We need to go to the ground and remove the racial sentiments Umno has created. We must act based on facts and truth.”

Jamzuri was responding to Prime Minister Najib Razak’s speech during the recent Umno General Assembly where the Umno president expressed concern that with a DAP-led government, the future of the Malays and Bumiputeras, could not be ensured.

Jamzuri also reminded Amanah leaders to speed-up preparations for GE14, and decide soon on issues such as seat allocation, the use of a common logo as well as the election manifesto.
