Shadow Cabinet promised early next year
Opposition says it has a line-up of leaders ready to take over.
(FMT) – Pakatan Harapan will reveal its shadow cabinet early next year, said a senior opposition leader, responding to criticism that the opposition pact did not have one even while it harboured dreams of forming the government.
Speaking to FMT, Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub said the opposition doesn’t lack quality leaders.
“I am confident that with the Pakatan Harapan leaders — more so now that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia leaders are with us — we have a line-up of leaders which can be presented as the country’s leaders at any time.”
Salahuddin was responding to communications and multimedia minister Salleh Said Keruak’s statement that Pakatan Harapan should first show the people its shadow cabinet before even thinking about forming the government,
Salleh said there were many questions which the opposition needed to answer, such as who would be prime minister, deputy prime minister and the rest of the Cabinet line-up, especially now that PPBM had joined forces with Pakatan Harapan.
Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan’s chief secretary Saifuddin Abdullah said that even though the opposition did not have an official shadow cabinet in the 2008 and 2013 general elections, the people understood.
He added: “Salleh’s statement is just bait to distract people from the existing Cabinet, which is the worst in Malaysia’s history.”
