Kit Siang approves of Amanah proposal
(The Star) – Making Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail interim prime minister if the Opposition wins the next general election is a good idea, says DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang.
“But Pakatan Harapan’s decision to have Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the prime minister-designate remains unchanged.
“We will need an interim prime minister until Anwar is released from prison,” he said in his speech at the Bukit Gelugor DAP dinner at Han Chiang High School hall on Friday.
In concurring with Amanah president Mohamad Sabu’s proposal that PKR president Dr Wan Azizah was a good choice, Lim said Anwar would not be the first to take a journey from behind bars to assume the highest political office in the country.
“I will add that Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be a good candidate as interim deputy prime minister.
“This is the electoral pact reached between Pakatan Harapan and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia on Tuesday to defeat Barisan Nasional in GE14.”
Lim said this in response to questions which arose after the dismissal by the Federal Court of Anwar’s review of his criminal conviction and sentence.
His comments were posted on his blog after the dinner event.
On Wednesday, the Federal Court ruled that there was no merit to Anwar’s application for a review of his Sodomy II conviction and five-year jail sentence.
