MCMC to continue probe into alleged insult of Agong
(Bernama) – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will continue its investigation on Mohd Faiz who reportedly insulted the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V through his Facebook page.
Communications and Multimedia Deputy Minister, Datuk Jailani Johari said although Mohd Faiz had apologised, the investigation against him must be carried out as the words used were believed to be defamatory.
“If we look at the newspapers, he has apologised but a complaint has been lodged against him over the matter and as usual, the investigation will proceed,” he said.
He was speaking at a press conference after launching the 1Malaysia Internet Centre (Chapu, Felda Mengkawang, Menerong and Padang Tera) in Kampung Chapu, here, today.
Jailani said MCMC would not hesitate to take action against any individual found guilty of making defamatory remarks.
“We want the people to know that they must be responsible for their behaviour and whatever they do,” he said.
On the alleged resignation of Khairy Jamaluddin as Youth and Sports Minister and as Rembau Member of Parliament which has gone viral, Jailani said it could be the work of irresponsible parties.
“Maybe it is the work of people who are envious of Umno’s unity and success… I am not accusing anyone but I hope it can be stopped.
“I have asked the MCMC to assist in the investigation and in the technical aspect, and if any party is found guilty, action will be taken,” he said.
