Lim Kit Siang’s botched Chinese New Year surprise!

Lim Kit Siang probably imagined that he could slip into the post of deputy Prime Minister through the back door. Kit Siang, knowing that Datuk Dr Wan Azizah Ismail and Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali ongoing saga over who is the head of the opposition (Pakatan Harapan), has opened the door for him to capture an even bigger prize; that of the post of Deputy Prime Minister.
However, in order to succeed in this plan he would have to continue to solicit the help of a person ever more conniving than he is; Tun Mahathir.
Tun Mahathir has for some time realised that he cannot on his own muster enough strength to make his son Mukhriz Prime Minister or even get him in line to be Prime Minister without help. Therefore he had to swallow ever truth he said about Lim Kit Siang and try to forge some type of quid pro quo pact.
The reported deal is that if Lim Kit Siang supports Mukhriz Mahathir’s bid to become Prime Minister then he (Kit Siang) would be named Deputy Prime Minister.
It would be fair to say that revelation was a shock to both former deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Dr Wan Azizah who had not too long ago heard both of their names mentioned for the top post.
Mukhriz leapfrogging over Muhyiddin means that that he was screwed yet again. First when he was convinced to go against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak with the promise that he would be Prime Minister in 2016, and now with the secret deal to make Mukhriz Prime Minister and Lim Kit Siang Deputy Prime Minister.
And what about Datuk Wan Azizah Ismail’s name being thrown out there as a possible candidate?
That was just a scare tactic to make Lim Kit Siang more palatable choice.
One can only imagine that Lim Kit Siang has been preparing for his day as a champion for the Malays; just look at his opposition to PAS President Hadi Awang’s private member’s Bill now titled RUU355.
