Pakatan Can’t Name What They Don’t Have!
(The Malaysian Observer) – Lim Kit Siang’s DAP-led Pakatan Harapan opposition is trying to give the impression that they are keeping their choice for Prime Minister close to vest. Perhaps they are doing this for the simple reason that there is no one from their camp that they can place before the public.
If they could trust Tun Mahathir and he were younger, then maybe they would showcase him as their choice.
However the problem with Mahathir is:
One: He has more political miles behind him than he has in front of him.
Two: Lim Kit Siang’s Pakatan opposition would be hard pressed and beyond desperate to trust a younger Mahathir.
And here’s why…
Let’s look at the story of Mahathir and Lim Kit Siang’s secret deal to make the later deputy Prime Minister/Finance Minister and Mukhriz Mahathir Prime Minister.
If this (not so) secret deal is true, then the opposition clearly sees how Mahathir is willing to screw over his own party member (former deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin) just to get what he wants; Mukhriz as Prime Minister.
At the same time, Pakatan Harapan sees how Kit Siang is willing to screw them over as well in order to secure a top post for himself, if election fortunes turned his way.
What all of this means is that neither Tun Mahathir nor Lim Kit Siang can be trusted when their vested interest are at stake.
This overt willingness to screw one’s own party or coalition has to have the elder politicians wondering about any deal made between each other as both men know that they could be the next in line to be screwed if they did not watch their rear end.
All of this covert backstabbing taking place within Pakatan and coalition partners means that they have squandered the time they needed to find an acceptable person that could present before the media and as their choice for Prime Minister.
Datuk Wan Azizah Ismail has never seriously fit the bill; although her name popped up for a few moments in 2016 just to keep Pakatan Harapan in the news.
