Kit Siang insists he is not Mahathir’s puppet or vice versa

(MMO) – DAP’s Lim Kit Siang today said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad cannot be his “stooge” if he is also the former’s puppetmaster.

The DAP parliamentary leader was addressing the incongruity of claims that each was under the control of the other.

Lim insisted that his dealings with the former prime minister was political cooperation for a shared agenda, and not one of servitude in either direction.

“Both Mahathir and I have strong views and opinions. Mahathir is not my stooge and I am not his puppet.

“We co-operate as patriotic Malaysians who feel that we have to work together to Save Malaysia from becoming a global kleptocracy and hurtling towards a failed and rogue state,” he said in a statement.

Dr Mahathir quit Umno last year and went on to form Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, which has an electoral agreement with the Pakatan Harapan electoral pact.

Political opponents have accused the two former nemeses of brokering a deal to make Dr Mahathir’s son, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, the next prime minister and Lim, his deputy.

The two are made out to be in a master-and-puppet relationship that changes according to the intended audience.
