LGBT activist wants ex-CJ to be kept “far away from our multi-ethnic society”
KEEP ISMA, PERKASA AND TUN FAIRUZ FAR AWAY FROM OUR MULTI-ETHNIC SOCIETY —AZRUL MOHD KHALIB
Anti-homophobia activist Azrul Mohd Khalib yesterday said retired chief justice Tun Ahmad Fairuz posed “a threat” to our multi-ethnic Malaysian society through the latter’s adamant stance on RUU355.
⇓ Siapa Azrul?
Azrul believes that Tun Fairuz’s stand in favouring such “archaic religious laws” (RUU355) is indicative that “there is something horribly wrong and alarming going on in our country”.
Referring to the proposed amendments to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965, Azrul said Tun Fairuz’s learned deliberations on syariah vis-a-vis the federal constitution should be viewed in light “of the threat posed by” the pro-RUU355 camp — see screenshot below.
Basket of Archaics
Azrul told Free Malaysia Today that Tun Fairuz’s archaic position must be “overwhelmingly rejected”.
He further urged members of the public who support maintaining Malaysia’s secular identity to reject Tun Fairuz’s endorsement of 355 akin to how “we would reject groups such as Isma and Perkasa”.
“Keep them far away from our multi-ethnic society,” warned Azrul.
The Azrul-type liberals have been as strident as the DAP in condemning Malay groups like Perkasa and Muslim NGOs like Isma for allegedly causing alarm and frightening secularists into fearing “something [gone] horribly wrong” in our multiracial community.
But Azrul is now ratcheting up the belligerence by firing his artillery at a former chief judge – Tun Ahmad Fairuz (pix below) whom he places in the same apple Basket of Archaics together with Isma and Perkasa.
