No ‘big brother’ party in Pakatan Harapan, says Loke

(MMO) – There is no one party which is superior to others in Pakatan Harapan, a DAP leader said today.

DAP parliamentary whip Anthony Loke emphasised that all parties in the federal Opposition coalition, including the latest addition Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), share equal rights and no one party calls the shots.

“There is no big brother or small brother in Pakatan. We are a coalition of parties which have similar strengths; there is no dominant party. That is our biggest difference with Barisan Nasional,” he said during a press conference at Parliament today.

The Seremban MP was responding to a statement made by PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin during the weekend, where he claimed a Malay-led party would lead the coalition.

Loke also stressed that any suggestions or demands made by any parties like PPBM would not be immediately consented to, but be discussed and deliberated first.

“We are open to suggestions. We are prepared to talk and discuss any suggestions by PPBM. But of course [we] will have our argument(s); not all suggestions by PPBM will be accepted,” he said.

The Pakatan parties are to have a meeting later today at Parliament, which is to be the first meet since PPBM officially joined the coalition last Monday.

Pakatan Harapan was formed last year by DAP, PKR  and Parti Amanah Negara after PAS severed ties with the DAP in Pakatan Rakyat.

Muhyiddin, meanwhile on Saturday, said PPBM would propose a Malay-led coalition, after the Bumiputera-centric party joined Pakatan Harapan.
