Muhyiddin admits Pribumi members leaving party in numbers

(Bernama) – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) president Muhyiddin Yassin today admitted that the party was experiencing a situation whereby members were jumping ship, specifically in Perak, because some are unhappy at the decision of the leadership.

Muhyiddin said he was still waiting for the actual figure of members who left the party in Perak.

“I already know who is instigating members to leave en masse following the appointment of the Perak Pribumi chief,” he told reporters after a breaking of fast programme with the Pribumi president in Balik Pulau yesterday.

In a report last month, more than 1,000 members of Perak Pribumi headed by its Ipoh Timor division pro tem chief Azrul Suhadi Ahmad Mokhtar and Teluk Intan division pro tem chief Jemaat Yaacob declared they were leaving the party with immediate effect following what they alleged as Muhyiddin’s failure to resolve the party’s internal conflict at the federal and state levels despite being given a week to do so.

Muhyiddin said the decision to appoint party chiefs at state levels was made after discussions with party leaders.
