Mukhriz: Armada exco member must face disciplinary committee over ‘clarity’ demands

PPBM members must protect the party and not criticise the party leadership

(NST) – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) Youth exco Muhammad Hafiz Azhar must face the party’s disciplinary committee for his demands that two senior PPBM leaders clear the air on their respective ‘personal issues.’

This was the opinion of PPBM deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, who believes that there are rules that must be followed.

All members, he said, including those holding executive positions in the Armada (Youth) wing, upon joining had to swear an oath to protect the party.

“When someone violates this oath, it is a serious issue.

“We are dealing with this by using the rules of the party. We hope the disciplinary committee will take the appropriate action or suggest what actions that the party leadership should take,” he told reporters here today.

Earlier this week, Hafiz had urged PPBM chairman, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, to step forward and clarify issues surrounding the wealth of his children.

Hafiz had asked Dr Mahathir to clear his name over the issue of his family’s alleged fortune.

He had also asked PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to clear the air over his alleged relationship with a married woman.

Muhyiddin had denied the allegation earlier, stating it was “baseless and malicious”.

Hafiz had reasoned that the two leaders needed to protect the good name and image of the party, and added that he was making the call in his personal capacity, and not on behalf of the wing.

Mukhriz, meanwhile, expressed his disappointment with Hafiz, adding that there were proper channels the latter could use to air his grouses.

He said the party will first analyse Hafiz’s actions before undertaking any disciplinary measures.
