Ezam does another U-turn of six U-turns
PKR insiders say Ezam Mohd Nor is preparing to return to PKR to support Nurul Izzah against Azmin Ali
(Berita Daily) – The New Generation Party (NewGen) president Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor has left the party with immediate effect.
Ezam sent a notice to this effect, dated June 1, to the party’s secretary-general S Gobi Krishnan.
“I hereby state my wish to withdraw myself from the New Generation Party effective in this letter’s date,” wrote Ezam.
The former senator said that the long process of changing the party’s name to Parti Bebas Rasuah is the reason behind his decision to quit the party.
“This decision was made since after waiting for two months to get the approval to change the name and constitution from the Registrar of Societies (ROS), we still didn’t get any feedback from the body,” he said.
“This has made it difficult for us to move forward as a party that is specifically aimed at battling corruption and has halted the agenda of battling corruption that has been in critical state in this country,” he added.
The move to replace Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail with Azmin Ali has started and Ezam Mohd Nor is aligned to Nurul Izzah
Ezam said that he will continue his struggle against corruption through the Hisbah Centre for Reforms.
He thanked the party for giving him the trust to lead it.
“Unfortunately, the reality in this country is that the power that be is clearly uncomfortable with any effort to battle graft and will use every instrument they have to halt our ambitions,” he said.
Ezam took over NewGen’s presidency in March and the party subsequently submitted its application to change its name and constitution.
