Is the plan to meet RoS another Kit Siang ploy?

According to Gobind yesterday, the party would wait for “official communication from RoS concerning the DAP CEC” before deciding what to do

THE THIRD FORCE

KUALA LUMPUR: The DAP’s Central Executive Committee (CEC), declared illegal by the Registrar of Societies (RoS), convened an emergency meeting here today at the party headquarters to decide the next course of action.

The only problem is, the meeting was illegal.

The fact is, if anybody were to convene a meeting, it would have to be members appointed to the committee prior to the 15th of December 2012 CEC election, found to be strewn with irregularities by the RoS.

Even then, the onus would be for the party to issue a formal statement of sorts, in writing, declaring to its members and the RoS that the meeting would be conducted by a committee appointed by the party prior to the December 2012 election.

In a statement today, the now defunct CEC contradicted all manner of logic when it said that it was prepared to meet the RoS as soon as it received a letter from the statutory body regarding the status of the CEC.

The contradiction arose from the fact that the RoS would never be able to entertain a request for a meeting, considering that the CEC was declared illegal by the statutory body, and any meeting between the RoS and the CEC could and would be construed as a tacit approval by the RoS of the CEC’s legality.
