If Mukhriz had won would Mahathir still attack Umno?

Mukhriz Mahathir said today he contested the Umno Vice Presidency in 2013 although he did not get the endorsement of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak. Unfortunate for Mukhriz he lost, just like he lost the Umno Youth leadership contest earlier in 2009. The question is, had Mukhriz won in 2013, or even in 2009, and today is one of the three Umno Vice Presidents, would he or his father, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, still have tried to oust Najib, which Mukhriz said yesterday started in 2014?

Going by Mukhriz’s own confession, he did not get Najib’s support in 2013 and one year after he lost the Umno Vice Presidency, his father made the move to oust Najib. So it appears like the move to oust Najib is related to Najib not giving Mukhriz his support in 2013 and which resulted in Mukhriz losing the contest.

This is just going by what Mukhriz himself told the court regarding events in 2013 and 2014. If you take Mukhriz’s statement at face value, it appears like Mahathir made his move against Najib in 2014 because Najib did not support Mukhriz, which resulted in him losing the 2013 Umno Vice President’s contest. And if Mukhriz was today an Umno Vice President would Mahathir still say all those nasty things about Najib and Umno seeing that Mukhriz had achieved what he wanted: which was to win a Vice Presidency in Umno?
