‘DAP grassroots worried over CEC re-election process’

(MO) – Several DAP grassroots have proposed for the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to appoint an independent audit firm to become an independent observer during the Central Executive Committee (CEC) re-election.

Its former Bagan Luar chairman G. Asoghan claimed that the proposed move was made by worried party members that the PKF Accountants And Business Advisers audit firm which will be monitoring the CEC re-election was appointed by unrecognised DAP leaders.

He explained that the members did not want the tiniest element which could raise doubts on the CEC re-election.

“They (DAP members) think that any audit firm that has anything to do with DAP can be touted as not independent so they have all agreed to object to the vice-president’s (Teresa Kok) proposal to appoint PKF as an independent observer,” Asoghan told reporters here today.

DAP last week gave in to RoS’ directive to hold a fresh poll for its CEC but it is understood that the party will be appointing PKF as an independent auditor to monitor and handle the re-election process.

Asoghan stressed on the importance of having an audit firm that has nothing at all to do with DAP or its lineup.

He claimed this is what the party members are all seeking for currently.
