Nazri: Dr Mahathir deserved it

The minister says Dr Mahathir Mohamad should behave like a statesman

(Berita Daily) –  Dr Mahathir Mohamad “deserved” what happened at Sunday’s Nothing to Hide 2.0 forum, said Nazri Aziz.

“He deserves it. If he wants to be a street fighter, that is what you get.

“If you do not want to behave like a statesman but behave like a gangster, that is what you get.

“So he asked for it,” he told a press conference here today.

The forum featuring the former prime minister descended into chaos after, among others, a slipper, a shoe, bottles and chairs were thrown into the crowd at the Dewan Raja Muda Musa hall in Shah Alam. Two flares were also lighted during the incident.

The session with the Pakatan Harapan chairman was then halted.

The fracas started after Mahathir was asked about the Memali incident in Baling, Kedah in 1985 and if he would take responsibility for the bloodshed which left 18 people dead, including four policemen.

Asked to respond on allegations that Umno members were involved in the ruckus, Nazri said such accusations were baseless.

“Why would we waste our time on that?” he said.
