MACC raids Isa Samad’s office at SPAD

(The Star) – Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officers raided the office of the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) where former Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad is serving as the acting chairman.

“I was told that this morning, we made an inspection at SPAD’s office.

“This is a normal process, when we arrest someone we will conduct checks at the person’s home, office, that is routine,” MACC chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad (pix)  told reporters after the signing of an anti-corruption pledge by senior management and vendors of the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) here Thursday.

Asked whether Mohd Isa was being investigated over Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) or Felda Global Ventures Holdings (FGV) Bhd, Dzulkifli said Mohd Isa was arrested in relation to FIC issues.

On allegations by the Opposition that the arrest was merely play-acting on MACC’s part to divert public anger, Dzulkifli said:

“They can say what they want, it’s not easy to act, the rakyat are watching.”

The MACC had earlier raided Mohd Isa’s two homes in Selangor and Nilai, Negri Sembilan following his arrest on Wednesday.
