PAS: No seat deal with PKR

(The Star) – PAS would not strike any seat deal with PKR in the run up to the 14th General Election, said the Islamist party.

Its vice president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah (pix) said if the PKR leadership insists on discussing the matter, the party’s answer was simple.

“Don’t contest seats by PAS. End of discussion,” he told reporters here Tuesday.

He said this in response to a recent development which had created an impression as if PAS and PKR had started mending their broken ties.

This follows after a photograph showing top PKR leaders including Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Datuk Seri Azmin Ali together with PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang went viral.

After the meeting, PKR revoked its earlier order for members to quit positions held in the Kelantan administration.

Mohd Amar insisted that the PKR leaders were merely visiting Hadi when he was hospitalised recently.

The Syura Council had in May decided to break ties with PKR following a resolution passed at the Muktamar.

Mohd Amar said PAS would not budge even if Wan Azizah insisted on returning to the negotiating table.

“Although there is still room for discussion, there is no valid reason to do so at this point of time,” he said.
