BALIK PULAU: Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak blasted the opposition today for exaggerating the issue of the Lynas factory in Pahang when they themselves were faced with the issue of illegal factories in Penang.
According to a report by Bernama, the Prime Minister stated that the issue of the illegal factory in Sungai Lembu was alleged to have polluted the environment and caused health problems, whereas the Lynas issue was never reported to have affected the health of the surrounding community as claimed by the opposition.
The Lynas factory (issue) was exaggerated and played up by the Malaysian opposition prior to the 13th general election on the pretext that it caused radiation problems, that people would get cancer and die.
For the record, TTF wishes to point out that nobody has died in Kuantan as a result of the Lynas installation, whereas the incidence of cancer in Kampung Sungai Lembu (as first pointed out by Dato’ Eric See-To and later, by TTF) was 23 times the national average rate.
To date, TTF has released villager petitions, a legal notice served to intimidate the JKKK of the village, DoE letters, MPSP letters and notices as well as excerpts from minutes of meetings and other attendant matters.
