DAP using Azmin to avoid three-corner fights
Can you see how slimy Kit Siang, Guan Eng and DAP are? If they do not agree for Azmin to hold hands and kiss-kiss with Hadi do you think they would still keep quiet? If they can attack HRH the Sultan of Selangor do you think they do not dare attack the Menteri Besar of Selangor? They are keeping quiet because they want Azmin to convince Hadi to avoid three-corner fights. And Anwar is secretly part of this plan.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
Liew Chin Tong of DAP said three-corner fights are actually good for Pakatan Harapan and will hurt Umno and PAS. That was probably why Barisan Nasional won the Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar by-elections against the backdrop of three-corner fights. In fact, Barisan Nasional not only won those two seats but they did so with an increased majority as well. So is Chin Tong talking based on fact or fiction?

The fact is PAS has had enough of being used by DAP. The success of Bersih depended on PAS supporters. Without the PAS supporters Bersih would not have Malay support and would be reduced to a Chinese protest movement. PAS also does not need DAP to win and retain Kelantan because there are hardly any DAP members in Kelantan while more than 97% of the Kelantan voters are Malay.
DAP, however, needs PAS. Pakatan would never have won Selangor if not because of the PAS supporters. And this was also the same in the marginal seats in Penang. At best DAP could only win 20-plus Parliament seats and it was because of PAS that DAP’s seats shot up to 38. And while it appears like DAP runs Penang and PKR runs Selangor, in reality DAP is the de facto leader in Selangor and PKR has to do what DAP tells them to do. And DAP proved this by taking action against PAS when they would not do what DAP wanted.
DAP is trying to give the impression that they have full support from the Chinese and can secure at least 54 Parliament seats with Chinese support while PKR, PAN and PPBM can deliver the balance of the seats with Malay support. The truth is Pakatan has lost much Malay support while the so-called ‘solid’ Chinese support is questionable. DAP underestimated PAS’s Malay support and now they realise that sacking PAS from the opposition coalition has hurt Pakatan quite badly.
So DAP may currently hate PAS but they realise they now need PAS more than before. And that is why Kit Siang is desperate and is trying very hard to get PAS to agree to an electoral pact where there will be straight fights and no three-corner fights. The Sarawak state election and the two by-elections have proven that Pakatan cannot survive three-corner fights. And if Umno and PAS avoid going head-on and focus on defeating Pakatan that will be the end of the opposition coalition.
In fact, DAP never liked PAS from way back. In 1990, when Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah wanted to form an opposition coalition (comprising Semangat 46, PAS and DAP), DAP refused to join the coalition if PAS was also in the coalition. So Tengku Razaleigh was forced to form two coalitions, one with PAS and another with DAP. DAP agreed for Tengku Razaleigh to have two wives as long as they both did not need to sleep in the same bed but lived in separate homes.
In 1999, DAP refused to join the opposition coalition because PAS was also in the coalition. But then Karpal Singh and Nik Aziz Nik Mat respected one another and got along well. So, because of the personal relationship between Karpal and Nik Aziz, they managed to come to some form of agreement and, at the eleventh hour, DAP finally agreed to join the coalition.
Even then the coalition almost did not happen until PAS openly declared that they have agreed to discard their Islamic State agenda and would not pursue the Islamic Sharia laws of Hudud. DAP made PAS issue a public declaration that the Islamic State and Hudud are no longer on the table as the term and condition for them joining the opposition coalition.
Even then the DAP supporters and voters punished Karpal Singh and Lim Kit Siang in the 1999 general election and they lost their seats. That was why Kit Siang decided to pull DAP out of the opposition coalition in 2001. And in the 2004 general election DAP chose to go against both Barisan Nasional and the other opposition parties in three-corner fights. And that was the worst performance ever for the opposition since the 1955 elections. The opposition practically got wiped out when Barisan Nasional won more than 90% of the seats and 64% of the popular votes.
DAP prefers a proxy Menteri Besar in Selangor who has loose morals and is pliant
When Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was interviewed in 2003 soon after he retired, he was asked why he decided to bring Anwar Ibrahim into Umno if he never trusted or liked Anwar from the very beginning. Mahathir replied he agreed for Anwar to join Umno so that he can be prevented from joining PAS. If Anwar joins PAS that would be bad for Umno so better he joins Umno where he can be controlled. However, when he found that Anwar could not be controlled, Mahathir decided to get rid of Anwar.
Yes, that was what Mahathir told the Japanese newspaper in his interview in Japan. And that was precisely the reason why Kit Siang agreed for PAS to join the opposition coalition. Better PAS be part of the opposition coalition where they can be controlled and where there will be no three-corner fights.
And the ‘glue’ that kept PAS as part of the opposition was Karpal and Nik Aziz. In fact, it was Karpal and not Kit Siang who was the political strategist in DAP. The 2008 and 2013 general election success was due to Karpal, not Kit Siang. Kit Siang’s forte is hate politics where he plays the race and religion card to make the Chinese hate the government, Umno, the Malays and Islam.
So, from the very beginning DAP did not like PAS one bit but they had to pretend that DAP and PAS are having a love relationship. And DAP played all sorts of political sandiwara to give the appearance that DAP and PAS are in love. And the Chinese were told that a vote for PAS is indirectly a vote for DAP and vice versa. And DAP supporters wore PAS T-shirts and carried PAS flags while singing Chinese songs about going to the moon with the rocket.

DAP: “Moon Represent My Heart”
While Nik Aziz had a very good relationship with Karpal, he did not trust Kit Siang and his son Guan Eng, who Nik Aziz knew are anti-monarchy, anti-Malay and anti-Islam. Furthermore, Kit Siang was an immigrant born in China so his patriotism to Malaysia is suspect. In fact, Kit Siang is more loyal to Singapore than he is to Malaysia. And most people knew that once Nik Aziz and Karpal are no longer around the DAP-PAS relationship will not last. True enough, it did not take long for DAP to stab PAS in the back after the death of Nik Aziz and Karpal.
It did not take much for the DAP-PAS relationship to break down. All it needed was a small thing such as the Sharia Amendment Bill a.k.a. RUU355. DAP tried to make it look like the RUU355 was a huge deal and translates to non-Muslims being subjected to Islamic laws such as beheadings and amputations. DAP supporters would believe DAP even if they were told that pigs can fly so they believed that PAS wants to behead and amputate Chinese and Indians. Kit Siang used the RUU355 as the reason why PAS needed to be sacked whereas it is actually an excuse disguised as a reason.
Basically DAP needed an excuse to divorce from PAS or else if the opposition fails to win the next general election DAP would be blamed for it. DAP knows the opposition is not going to form the next government so they want to blame someone for it. If not then DAP would have to take the blame. So they kicked PAS out of the opposition coalition knowing that this will result in three-corner fights and then DAP can blame PAS for the opposition failure.
Karpal and Nik Aziz were the glue to bind PAS and DAP under one coalition
Karpal Singh and Nik Aziz were crucial to the opposition success. Karpal and Nik Aziz had tremendous respect for one another and the DAP supporters will listen to Karpal while the PAS supporters will listen to Nik Aziz. Hence that made the opposition coalition strong. But DAP wants to control what happens in the DAP-led opposition coalition and the rest have to just agree and follow what DAP wants. But Karpal Singh’s and Nik Aziz’s relationship helped avoid a breakdown.
The DAP supporters, however, do not have that same respect for the other PAS leaders while the PAS supporters, in turn, do not have respect for Kit Siang, Guan Eng, and the other DAP leaders. And, to make matters worse, Kit Siang and Guan Eng are extremely arrogant and are anti-monarchy, anti-Malay and anti-Islam. The very fact that DAP’s arrogance has not triggered another May 13 shows how patient and peaceful Malays are. If this was in another country there would have been blood on the streets long ago.
Without PAS Pakatan Harapan can never march into Putrajaya and DAP knows that. Even the Rulers were not too happy with PAS for going to bed with DAP and PKR and it was because of PAS that Pakatan Rakyat had some support from the Rulers. The Rulers know that DAP and PKR are anti-Monarchy and some in PKR are anti-Malay and anti-Islam as well (while all in DAP are anti-Malay and anti-Islam). DAP also thinks PAS Malays are backward Malays with a kampung mentality.
Now that DAP has kicked PAS out of the opposition coalition the Rulers are happier. And most of the Rulers would be very happy to see three-corner fights so that the DAP-led Pakatan Harapan will never come to power. And Chin Tong is trying to play his cheap psywar game by saying that three-corner fights favour the opposition while Umno and PAS will lose many seats. If this is the best brain that DAP has then DAP’s days are numbered. But then Kit Siang is in such a state of panic that he can no longer think straight and believes such far-fetched theories from Chin Tong.
Kit Siang’s skill is hate politics and to incite the Chinese to hate the Government, Umno, the Monarchy, the Malays and Islam
In other words, DAP is telling the Chinese that three-corner fights are good and will help the DAP-led Pakatan Harapan come to power. And since the Chinese will believe that pigs can fly if DAP says so, they will believe that three-corner fights are good and will help the DAP-led Pakatan Harapan come to power. Kit Siang and Chin Tong should take a course from MCA’s Liow Tiong Lai who is a far better political strategist.
While DAP openly says they do not need PAS and that three-corner fights are good for the DAP-led Pakatan Harapan, behind the scenes Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali is keeping the relationship with PAS strong. DAP has said nothing about it. In fact, those who are protesting are PKR people themselves and this has caused a serious split in PKR.
Why is DAP keeping quiet when Azmin has an affair or indulges in illicit sex with PAS while married to DAP? Well, that is because DAP knows they still need PAS although openly they say they do not. DAP is hoping that Azmin can convince Hadi to avoid three-corner contests. DAP will then say this is PKR’s deal with PAS and has nothing to do with DAP. And DAP prefers dealing with Azmin because they know that a person of loose morals is very pliable.
