No comment from Rafizi over Latheefa’s latest revelation

PKR vice-president says he will only respond to accusations that concern the people.

(FMT) – PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli today refused to respond to allegations made by fellow party member Latheefa Koya over the “Kajang Move”.

This followed Latheefa’s Facebook post on the 2014 incident, which eventually led to the ousting of former Selangor menteri besar Khalid Ibrahim and him (Khalid) being replaced by Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Without naming anyone, she claimed that the “architect” of the “Kajang Move” made it happen as a strategy to prevent Azmin from getting the post.

Latheefa and Rafizi are on opposite sides of the debate in PKR on the need to continue talks on an electoral pact with the party’s former ally, PAS.

In the past week, Latheefa has made scathing remarks on social media against a certain PKR leader without mentioning names, though Rafizi, when pressed by the media, said the posts were obviously aimed at him.

Speaking on Facebook Live at Invoke here today, Rafizi said he would not respond to Latheefa’s accusations as it would detract his attention from what was most important.

“Let people make their own judgments. Latheefa has her track record and I have mine,” he said.

“People will continue with all kinds of accusations, and I will only respond to those that are of public interest because if I respond to every attack, then that will take my time away from what is truly important which is your dollars and cents.”

Rafizi said he had been the victim of numerous accusations from as far back as 2010.

“People have said so many things about me, whether it’s from PAS, Umno or PKR. It’s the hazard that comes with being a public official. I will be subjected to public scrutiny,” he said.

“I’ve been a target since 2010. I’ve been accused of being a homosexual, of being sacked from Petronas, of being an Umno agent. Most interestingly, I’ve been accused of having an affair with a foreign girl named Christy.

“The reason for that is because I had not updated my relationship status on Facebook and it said I was in a relationship with Christy. Christy is my cat.”

On Aug 26, Azmin said he had engaged with PAS leaders on the issue of cooperation not in his personal capacity but based on the party’s decision.

However, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution later denied that such a decision had been made at the party level.

The move did not sit well with some other leaders, including Selayang MP William Leong who resigned from the political bureau, the highest decision-making body in PKR.

Rafizi also openly questioned Azmin for holding discussions with PAS even though the Islamist party had announced it was ready to force three-cornered fights with Pakatan Harapan (PH) components and Umno in the general election.

Rafizi said today that he had said all he should in his capacity as PKR vice-president regarding the need to make a decision on PAS, and that he would not say anymore.
