Kit Siang should sue RPK to prove RM1 billion bribe claim untrue

(NST) – Former DAP Bagan Luar branch chairman G. Asoghan has challenged party veteran Lim Kit Siang to sue blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin if the latter’s claims of him receiving RM1 billion from Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad were untrue.

He also lodged a report at the Butterworth police station this morning urging the authorities to investigate the claims and take the matter seriously.

“We are very surprised with the latest revelation by Raja Petra. Lim has been in politics for the last 50 years but this is the first we heard about the corruption claims. He owes the people an explanation.

“This is very important because we want a free and fair election come the 14th general election,” he told newsmen after lodging the report.

He was accompanied by several DAP members and electorates from the state.

Asoghan said if indeed Lim denies the claims, then he should allow the courts to clear his name.

“Denial through words alone do not count. He has to sue Raja Petra. He should allow police to investigate the matter,” he added.

He noted that he would give room to police to investigate the matter first before going to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission next.

Raja Petra, in a recent posting titled “Mahathir bribed Kit Siang RM1 billion to become Pakatan’s Chairman”, had said that he was told by someone within DAP’s inner circle that part of that deal was Lim would not spill the beans on the Bank Negara forex scandal and Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir would be given a safe parliament seat to contest in the next general election.

He had alleged that RM750 million had been paid thus far, and once Mukhriz’s seat was confirmed, the balance would be paid.

Lim, in a posting on his blog https://blog.limkitsiang.com had said that he had directed his lawyers to take out a test case to sue the media which printed lies and defamatory materials about him, such as the RM1 billion bribe allegation, just by quoting some “Tom, Dick and Harry”.

Prior to this, former DAP vice-chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim had challenged Lim to disprove the claims.
