Indian business group wants MACC to probe into Dr Mahathir’s wealth

(Bernama) – THE Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry has urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s family wealth.

Its president, K. Kenneth Eswaran, said the time had come for Dr Mahathir to come clean and explain to the people the source of his wealth.

“Appropriate action must be taken if there is any misappropriation,” he said today.

Eswaran was responding to Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak’s comment on Dr Mahathir’s denial that he did not have RM1 billion with him as reported in the media.

Dr Mahathir’s statement was released on Bersatu’s Facebook page Friday, in which he denied paying RM1 billion to DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang to become chairman of Pakatan Harapan.
