Pakatan strangely silent over Mahathir’s racist rant

(The Star) – Political commentator Lim Sian See has accused Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad of being racist after he attacked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s ancestry.

During Dr Mahathir’s speech at Pakatan Harapan’s ‘Love Malaysia, End Kleptocracy’ rally on Saturday, Dr Mahathir said: “Maybe he can trace his ancestry to Bugis pirates. Somehow, he lost his way and came to Malaysia. Go home to Bugis (Sulawesi)!”

Lim said that the “hypocritical Pakatan crowd cheered”.

Lim said that several Pakatan leaders, associated NGOs and writers slammed Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for being racist when he mentioned Mahathir’s Kerala ancestry in July.

Lim said he now waits for the same Pakatan leaders, associated NGOs and writers to slam and attack Dr Mahathir for being racist.

“We shall be waiting a long time, it seems,” he said.

Lim said that this hypocrisy shows that Pakatan is all about “self-interest to grab power” and is unfit to rule.

“Can Pakatan be truly non-racist or multi-racial if their chairman himself is a racist while Pakatan leaders dare not slam their own chairman for such remarks,” said Lim.

“Does this mean that Pakatan and DAP tolerates or even promotes racism or race based hate speech,” he said.
