The Perlis Mufti should talk about more important things

I bet our dear Perlis Mufti cannot even prove that God exists or that the Qur’an came from God. As in the case for all religions, the Mufti depends on faith for us to believe because if based on evidence not a single religion can be proven true.

NO HOLDS BARRED

The Mufti of Perlis, Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin, said non-Muslims are welcome in mosques. He also said extremists cannot rehabilitate extremists. He further said Islam is a religion of peace, mercy and compassion.

We have heard all that propaganda before and that is not really very important to most of us. What we want to know is about matters more important to life.

One crucial matter we need to discuss is we did not choose how and where to be born and to which parents. Some of us, by accident of birth, are born into Hindu families. Some into Muslim families. Some into Christian families. And so on. We did not choose which family to be born into and it was all the hand of fate — or the will of God if you wish.

The Perlis Mufti who talks as if he is a liberal when Islam is not a liberal religion

What happens if later in life we discover that the religion we were born into is pure hogwash? Can we decide to abandon that religion we were born into if we feel it is all nonsense? And what if we decide we were born gay or bisexual? Can we choose to live the life of our choice?

This is what the Perlis Mufti should talk about so that we know Islam’s position on this. Then Muslims can contemplate whether Islamic Sharia laws are nonsense and should be rejected as stupid and outdated.

Dear Mufti, talk about something useful or just shut your mouth because you are not helping in clearing up the confusion. Sometimes you sound more like a politician than a scholar and if you want to become a politician then resign and stand for the next general election as a candidate.

Peaceful, compassionate and merciful Islam jails gays and in some countries puts them to death

Actually, most of us are sick of so-called Muslim scholars who contradict one another and talk as if they were  personally appointed by God as God’s messenger on earth. Religion does more harm that good and most of the problems the last 2,500 years is because everyone thinks their region is the best and all other religions are dog shit.

I bet our dear Perlis Mufti cannot even prove that God exists or that the Qur’an came from God. As in the case for all religions, the Mufti depends on faith for us to believe because if based on evidence not a single religion can be proven true.

Over to you, Mufti. Oh, and by the way, what is your stand on the RUU355? Do you support it or oppose it? Jawab, jangan tak jawab!

Egyptian lawmaker to propose anti-gay bill as part of crackdown

(Reuters) – An Egyptian lawmaker is introducing a draft bill that would imprison those engaging in or promoting same-sex relations, a copy of the draft seen by Reuters on Thursday showed.

Amnesty International said the bill is “another nail in the coffin for sexual rights in Egypt” and should be scrapped.

It would introduce sentences of to up to 10 years in prison for people engaging in or promoting same-sex relations.

The law is part of a wider crackdown against homosexuality that started in September when a group of people were seen raising a rainbow flag at a concert, a rare public show of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights in the conservative Muslim country.

“The Egyptian authorities must urgently scrap this draft law and put an end to this alarming wave of homophobic persecution,” Bounaim added.

The crackdown comes as Egypt, a main Western ally in the Middle East, is under fire for its human rights record and the United States has withheld some of its $1.3 billion in annual military aid.

At least 70 people have been arrested and some have been subjected to anal examinations that amount to torture since September.

Homosexuality is not specifically outlawed in Egypt but discrimination is rife. Gay men are frequently arrested and typically charged with debauchery, immorality or blasphemy.

Egyptian authorities do not deny going after gays.

Gay men and rights activists say the LGBT community has been facing an aggressive crackdown since 2013, when President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as military chief ousted President Mohamed Mursi, an Islamist.
