Amanah veep Husam admits son arrested over ‘pil kuda’

(MMO) – Amanah vice-president Datuk Husam Musa has admitted that the suspect arrested for possessing 200 methamphetamine pills, also called “pil kuda” here, was his son Ahmad Syafi.

In a Facebook status update, the Salor assemblyman said the police did not inform him of the incident and he only found out about the arrest from a WhatsApp message on a Malaysiakini story at 5.22pm today.

“I only found out that my son, Ahmad Syafi is held in remanded custody at the Kota Baru Court and charged with possession of ‘pil kuda’ at 5.22 pm today when someone sent a Malaysiakini report to me through WhatsApp.

“Until now the police have not officially informed me of the arrest. They did not inform me that he was being brought to court for remanded custody this morning. I have not been told where my son is being held,” said Husam.

A neighbour living in the area where his son was arrested told Husam that his son was taken by “a group of men” yesterday.

He also said he will give a full statement over the issue after he meets his son, and finding out what has occurred from the police.

Utusan Malaysia reported that Kota Baru police chief Assistant Commissioner Ismail Mat Sidek confirmed the arrest and that Ahmad Syafi was taken to Kota Baru court for a remand order.

Yesterday, Ahmad Syafi was arrested by Kota Baru’s narcotics division in front of a house in Jalan Pasir Mas-Salor, Kampung Jelutong at around 3.30pm.

Police reportedly observed him for five minutes for any suspicious behaviour before identifying themselves. He was said to have tried to escape by running through the side of the house when approached.

Ismail said Ahmad Syafi fell to the ground during pursuit and tried to resist arrest when officers tried to search him.

The police then found 198 red pills and two green pills in a blue plastic bag wrapped in a white tissue in Ahmad Syafi’s pants’ right pocket.
