Why speak ‘Chinese’ when you talk ‘Gerakan’?

Raja Sara Petra

Today Oriental Daily asked, “Gerakan contented to be a mosquito party?”

In that article Oriental Daily said, “Gerakan, at its most, could only play the role promoting moderation and “blue ocean” concept. MCA on the other hand is in control of all Chinese issues like Chinese education development, Malaysia-China relations and even those relating to people’s livelihood.”

Oriental Daily, just like most Chinese media, is always comparing Gerakan to MCA, meaning equating Gerakan to just another Chinese party like MCA. However, when DAP is also compared to MCA, suggesting that DAP is also just another Chinese party, there are protests with people saying that DAP is a multi-racial party and not a Chinese party.

When you label DAP a Chinese party they will call you a racist. But it is not racism when you label Gerakan a Chinese party. Why these double-standards?

Oriental Daily appears to be playing the role of batu api when it said, “As such, Gerakan should not impose self-restraint and contented itself to be a mosquito party. It should take advantage of the winning streak and make more requests from Barisan central leadership.”

When PAS does the same thing they call PAS a traitor and turncoat and close down the opposition coalition, Pakatan Rakyat, and form a new one, Pakatan Harapan, so that PAS can be sacked from the coalition. So, when Gerakan toes the line you call it a mosquito party but when PAS does not toe the line you call it a traitor party.

The truth is as long as you are the government whatever you do is wrong. Even when you replace the 13% SST with a 6% GST you are still wrong.
