‘Pakatan’s PM, DPM Candidate Report Untrue’
(Berita Daily) – PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil denied that Pakatan Harapan had named coalition chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the prime minister candidate and PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as deputy prime minister in the event the Opposition coalition wins the 14th general election.
“The article is misrepresenting. It is not a correct report,” said Fahmi, who attended the Pakatan Harapan retreat.
“The report by The Star is misleading. No decision was reached on that matter,” he added.
The Star quoted sources as saying that Mahathir has been named as prime minister candidate whereas Opposition Leader Wan Azizah as the deputy prime minister candidate.
According to the report, all Pakatan component parties aside from PKR agreed to this arrangement that was achieved during Pakatan Harapan’s retreat on Friday and Saturday in Putrajaya.
Mahathir who is also PPBM chairman was Malaysia’s fourth prime minister who ruled for over 22 years since 1983.
Wan Azizah is also Pakatan Harapan president, Permatang Pauh MP and Kajang assemblyman.
