DAP targeting royals after failing to topple Najib, claims Umno delegate

(FMT) – A Selangor Umno delegate to the party’s general assembly has accused the DAP of targeting the royal institution in the state after failing to bring down Umno president and prime minister Najib Razak.

Zainal Abidin Sakom, of the Hulu Selangor Umno division, said DAP member Zaid Ibrahim had been so bold as to tell Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to “shut up”.

” Why is the royal institution  being attacked by people programmed by DAP,” he charged while debating the resolution on religion and education on the final day of the 71st Umno general assembly at PWTC today.

Zaid, a former minister, had taken to Twitter to “advise” the sultan who earlier criticised Pakatan Harapan chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad as being motivated by “deep hatred” and that “his anger will burn the whole country”.

His tweet read: “The Selangor sultan should be careful with his words. No one is immune when the country burns.”

Subsequently, the sultan told Zaid to return to his home state of Kelantan if he was unhappy with the ruler.

Zainal Abidin also alleged DAP had shamelessly used the services of independent preacher Wan Ji Wan Hussin whom he accused of wanting to abolish the royal institution in the country.

“DAP is proud to appoint Wan Ji as an information officer (of the Penang government), not caring about what the Malays think,” he said.

He reminded the assembly that Selangor Umno, led by its chairman Noh Omar, would hold a rally tomorrow in Shah Alam to show support for the sultan and he invited all the delegates to take part in it.

“Let us show that Umno will stoutly defend the sultan and the royal institution,” he added.
