Police record Zaid Ibrahim’s statement
(The Star) – Datuk Zaid Ibrahim has given his statement to the police over remarks he posted on Twitter on Dec 5, saying that these were his own personal views.
He arrived at the federal police headquarters, Bukit Aman, at 9.30am Wednesday to give his statement to the Criminal Investigation Department for about 30 minutes and was seen leaving at about 11am.
Zaid, a lawyer, when met by reporters after giving his statement, said the investigation revolved around his tweets on Dec 5 which, according to him, were merely his personal views.
“Nevertheless, I am satisfied with the investigation just now and am waiting for the outcome,” he said.
The DAP member had on Twitter disputed the statement by the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, over the alleged insulting remarks made by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad about the Bugis community. This has incurred the ire of the sultan.
