Is Mahathir signalling that he has no faith in Mukhriz contesting under Pakatan Harapan?
(Malaysia Outlook) – If it is true that Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is trying to negotiate for his son Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir to contest under Barisan Nasional (BN), then it serves both DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and Pakatan Harapan right.
This is the opinion of former DAP national vice-chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim with regard to an allegation made by Raja Petra Kamarudin.
Writing on Malaysia Today, the political blogger yesterday claimed that Dr Mahathir proposed a deal with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, in which foremost in the deal is for Mukhriz to be appointed as Deputy Prime Minister II (DPM II).
“Imagine as you will the chairman of PH publicly signalling that he has no faith in his son contesting under PH. Lim should respond, to deny if what is widely covered by Malaysia Today is not true,” Tunku Abdul Aziz said at a press conference at the Eastin Hotel, here today.
Tunku Abdul Aziz said given the latest turn of events, as well as bearing in mind what Dr Mahathir wants so desperately for his son, he will not be surprised if the former Premier is to resort to blackmailing heads of agencies he sees as stumbling blocks to his plan of toppling the Prime Minister in order to pave the way for his son’s political future.
“Is Mahathir brewing a plot to topple the Prime Minister yet again? Relevant authorities should investigate this because it is unconstitutional and does not serve the public interest,” Tunku Abdul Aziz said.

The social activist remarked that it appears as though Mahathir has been making one u-turn after another with regular monotony.
“His obsession with the idea of his son Mukhriz becoming DPM II and subsequently PM has taken a bizarre turn. He is a man who has abandoned any self-respect or principles; only self-interest drives him hell-bent and headlong on a reckless and dangerous journey for our country.
“Mahathir’s political adventure to realise his own selfish agenda could well drag this peaceful and orderly nation into chaos. He obviously could not care less about that,” Tunku Abdul Aziz said.
