PH willing to eat own words for political survival, says former DAP man

(TMI) – Pakatan Harapan is willing to eat its own words and swallow its own pride in order to ensure its survival in politics, says a former DAP life member.

The nomination of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as temporary prime minister only strengthens the perception that the Opposition is power hungry and could not be bothered with the rakyat.

Former DAP life member Shamser Singh Thind said the nomination of the former prime minister has somewhat thrown all the struggles of the Opposition under the administration of Tun Dr Mahathir when he was prime minister for 22 years all this while out of the window.

He added that issues such as the Forex scandal, the IC project, attack on the judiciary and implementation of the Internal Security Act (ISA) which was strongly objected by the Opposition previously were somewhat forgotten.

“The National Feedlot Centre (NDC) issue has already been forgotten after former deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has joined the Opposition.

“I’m also confident that when Datuk Seri Najib Razak steps down, the 1MDB issue will also be forgotten and the Opposition might even applaud Najib for forming 1MDB if Najib joins the Opposition,” Shamser told the media here today

Yesterday PKR and DAP grassroots had expressed dissatisfaction after Tun Dr Mahathir was announced as the Prime Minister candidate by PH was seen as an insult to the reformasi struggle.

Shamser also slammed some PKR and DAP leaders whom he described as not havjng principles in politics.

Shamser also took a swipe at DAP leaders who had cheered on when Tun Dr Mahathir proposed that the term of a prime minister be limited to two terms, forgetting that the former prime minister himself held on to his office for 22 long years.

“DAP sidelined its own state representative, Teh Yee Cheu, for proposing that the term of a chief minister be limited to two terms only but when PH proposed the same thing for the post of Prime Minister, DAP applauded the move.

“This reeks strongly of hypocrisy,” he said.
