Azmin’s secret pact with PAS Selangor

If PAS Selangor engages in three-corner contests with Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan, the losers are going to be PKR, PPBM and PAN while DAP will benefit. Against the backdrop of three-corner contests, DAP is going to end up with the most number of seats in Selangor and Azmin is going to lose his job. So, it is crucial that Azmin makes this secret pact with PAS Selangor so that PKR and not DAP will end up with the most number of seats in Selangor.

THE CORRIDORS OF POWER

Yesterday, The Malaysian Insight (TMI) reported “Trouble brewing in Selangor and Penang Pakatan over seat talks?” (READ HERE). Today, TMI reported “PKR Selangor seat negotiations yet to be finalised, says Azmin” (READ BELOW).

Actually, the real problem is regarding the secret pact that Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali has made with PAS Selangor.

PAS and Pakatan Harapan have already announced they will not enter into any electoral pact or ‘loose coalition’ for the next general election or GE14. In fact, PAS said it is going to be the ‘Third Force’ and will engage both Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan in three-corner fights. Some seats are expected to be more than just three-corner fights — such as Shah Alam where Mohamad Ezam Mohd Nor will also be contesting

PAS President Abdul Hadi Awang said no electoral pact with Pakatan Harapan

If that happens then PKR will be in trouble, especially in Selangor. To make matters worse, Azmin, who depends on the votes from PAS supporters, may face defeat — which is why he said he has not yet decided where to contest (READ HERE). Azmin will decide where to contest only after the pact with PAS Selangor is cemented or else, if PAS is not going to support him or will also be contesting in his seat, then he will lose.

A number of PAS Selangor Wakil Rakyat have met up with their party Secretary-General, Takiyuddin Hassan, to inform him that they have agreed to the secret pact with Azmin. These PAS Selangor Wakil Rakyat do not want to engage PKR in three-corner contests. Wherever PKR is contesting, PAS Selangor will not contest. They will only contest where DAP, PPBM and PAN are contesting.

The Team B of PAS Selangor informed the party Secretary-General they are entering into a secret electoral pact with the Selangor Menteri Besar

The PAS Wakil Rakyat for Bangi, Mohd Shafie Ngah, who is also the Deputy Speaker of the Selangor State Assembly, is leading the breakaway group that is making this secret pact with Azmin. They have also informed Takiyuddin they no longer recognise the authority of the PAS Selangor Commissioner, Ustaz Sallehen Mukhyi, the Wakil Rakyat for Sabak Bernam.

In short, PAS Selangor, or Team B in PAS Selangor, is mutinying and will no longer take directions from PAS Pusat, or from the PAS Selangor Commissioner, and will go ahead and do the deal with Azmin.

PAS Pusat is not too happy about this secret pact between Azmin and PAS Selangor, and neither is PKR Pusat. While the deal may benefit PKR Selangor and Azmin personally, it is going to make DAP, PPBM and PAN very unhappy because PKR Selangor is going to benefit at the expense of Pakatan Harapan.

PPBM and PAN are going to be the biggest losers in a PAS Selangor-Azmin Ali electoral pact

PKR Selangor seat negotiations yet to be finalised, says Azmin

(The Malaysian Insight) – PKR Selangor has identified its list of candidates and the seats they intend to contest in the next general election, but discussions with other opposition partners have yet to be concluded, said Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Azmin said the party is ready for the elections, which must be held by August, but added that a few seats have yet to be confirmed and approved by party leaders.

“For a political party we are prepared for any eventuality. If we anticipate the elections (is) going to be in April, I can safely say we are ready for that, in terms of candidates and location and also the preparation for the election,”   he said at the sidelines of the launch of a healthcare subsidisation scheme “Skim Peduli Sihat” for civil servants in Shah Alam today.

Azmin knows his future is with PAS and not Pakatan Harapan

Azmin said the discussion process on seat allocations has been “complicated”, but dismissed rumours of an impasse between fellow Pakatan Harapan parties.

“It’s not true (that) there is any individual who is trying to discredit any other parties. That’s why we know how many (seats) Amanah, Bersatu and Keadilan requested,” he said.

“If we did not have any discussion, how would we know where they would like to contest?

“The process is definitely complicated but I can see that it headed to a positive direction to ensure a victory,” said Azmin.

It was reported previously that there appears to be some confusion with the seat negotiations for PH Selangor as PKR is the only component party that insists formal negotiations have started.

Tony Pua said DAP is not aware of any seat negotiations in Selangor

PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin issued a statement on Friday denying Amanah’s claim that a committee had yet to be formed to discuss seat negotiations.

She said four rounds of talks have already been held by the state PH elections committee headed by Dr Xavier Jeyakumar.

However DAP Selangor chairman Tony Pua said he had no idea there were ongoing talks for PH Selangor.
