Dr M: Put Pakatan first, party second

(The Star) – The Pakatan Harapan cause should be placed ahead that of any component party to ensure that the Opposition coalition emerges victorious in the coming general election.

“If we want to be united, we should prioritise Pakatan Harapan before our own parties.

“All four parties will support that one candidate, as long as he or she is a Pakatan candidate. This will ensure victory for us,” said the former prime minister.

He added that as long as Pakatan was not united, it would continue to be the Opposition.

Dr Mahathir, who is also Pakatan chairman, also denied that Opposition coalition could not agree on certain matters, particularly over allocation of seats.

“This is not true. We have already agreed on parliament seats and this is a big accomplishment,” he said, adding that there would always be dissatisfaction over seat allocations.

However, Dr Mahathir believed that this was a good thing.

“If all parties are not satisfied, this means that we are fair. If one side is happy, then there is bias,” he said.

Earlier, the convention also saw the launching of the state Pakatan Harapan election machinery.
